I was at the zoo the other day
with my 3-yr-old granddaughter. About the time we were walking in front of the
Elephant exhibit I stepped on her foot. She bounced up and down and fussed and
tried to cry. So I picked her up and told her how sorry I was and asked “Do you
forgive me?” and she said “No!” She just wanted to see the Lions!
So we shared a bowl of Dipping
Dots (Ice Cream), both our first time and sat in front of the Lion exhibit,
where we couldn’t see the Lion sleeping on the top ledge. About the time we
finished the ice cream. That Lion stood up where we could get a good look and
roared for a minute that you could hear all over the zoo. I asked her if her foot
was ok and she said “what?” So sometimes forgetting is just as good as
forgiving! That’s why you have to forgive yourself, because more times than
not, all is forgotten. And if you are holding on to something waiting for an
apology, don’t! They may have already forgotten. Just forgive and forget and
carry on. Move on with your life and be there when the Lion roars!
